How To Get Full-Screen Folders In iOS 7

How To Get Full-Screen Folders In iOS 7

It took Apple until iOS 4 to finally come through with the basic commodity of folders, and a further three revisions – right up to iOS 7 – before these folders could finally be deemed substantial. But while it’s nice to be able to put an unlimited amount of app icons in one spot in iOS 7, there’s still room for improvement, and a new tweak called FolderBoard offers a little something extra by allowing you to open folders in full screen mode.

Even though Apple has brought forth many great features with iOS 7, it’s still mystifying that almost every facet of the firmware still seems arbitrarily limited in one way or another. Being able to dive right into the full-screen folders is a breeze too, with absolutely no settings to configure from the get go.

Once installed, FolderBoard will open up folders in full-screen mode, and as a bonus, also bring pinch-to-close for added finesse. There are no options to configure like we said before, but it does work well as advertised, and although it will still only show nine icons per page, it does make everything appear nicely spaced out.

FolderBoard is absolutely free of charge, and can be picked up from the ModMyi repository right now. Sure, it’s not as feature rich as some of the other tweaks we’ve featured here at Redmond Pie, but it does the job it sets out to do, and does so well.

Personally speaking, I think the full-screen look is superior, and having downloaded this tweak purely for the purpose of testing it out, I will certainly be keeping it installed on my device for the time being.

As a side note, you can also get full-screen folders by purchasing FolderEnhancer for
iOS 7, an incredibly useful, long-standing tweak that lets you modify the way your folders behave to the nth degree, and as well as providing seemingly endless functionality, it lets you customize the appearance of text, implement custom backgrounds, and other such niceties.

How To Get Full-Screen App Switcher Previews In iOS 7

How To Get Full-Screen App Switcher Previews In iOS 7

The iOS 7 app switcher is incredibly slick, and after years of insufferable, barely-there, half-baked multitasking, certainly hasn't arrived before its time. As well as being functionally sound, the new app switcher also looks the part, but as with any aspect of iOS, there’s always room for improvement where the jailbreak community is concerned. A new, free tweak over at the BigBoss repo enhances the experience by bringing full-screen previews to the app switcher, making full use of your device’s display real estate. Check it out after the fold!

The tweak, which is appropriately named FullscreenPreviews, naturally requires iOS 7, but once installed, will augment those previews to full-screen mode.

In the past, Apple has implemented new features that have felt grossly limited for no apparent reason, such as the old multitasking bar, or the folders feature in iOS 4. But while the app switcher feels like it has been around for a few generations and runs in a rather seamless, polished manner, the number of tweaks relating to it so far suggests that we’d still like some more customization options at stock level.

As aforementioned, FullscreenPreviews is absolutely free of charge – which is always a plus – and can be picked up from the BigBoss repository, which should reside within your default list of Cydia sources unless you've decided to manually remove it yourself.

So, if you like the new app switcher feature of iOS 7 but wish to take it to the next level, this tweak is most definitely for you. Download it now via Cydia, and if you do happen to install it on your device.

Having tested it out for ourselves, it does work as advertised, and if you prefer things in full screen, we’d highly recommend giving this one a try.

ExKey add an extra row of keys to the iOS keyboard

exkey

exKey is a jailbreak tweak that adds an additional fifth row of keys to the stock keyboard in iOS. The tweak, which works on iOS 5 through iOS 7, allows users to type more efficiently, because they should spend less time switching between the numeric and alpha keys.

When installed and in normal alpha mode, you’ll see a set of numeric keys, digits 0-9, grace the top of the keyboard as the new fifth row. When you switch to the numeric keypad, the numbers are replaced with special character symbols.

Once installed, there are no options to configure. exKey can be used right after installation with nothing to setup. If you’re interested in giving it a try, you can find it for $0.99 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

Universal Video Downloader

Universal Video Downloader allows you to extract video from outside apps

Universal Video Downloader is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to extract video from any app. It’s a tweak that makes it totally feasible to download an iTunes trailer, or other video content for offline use.

Universal Video Downloader “listens” in the background, and will pop up a notification anytime it senses a video playing within another app. It will then prompt you to download that video to your library. As you’ll see in the demonstration above, not all videos will play within your library, so you may have to use iFile in order to access the content.

Fortunately, content like Netflix, although it can be watched offline within the app, isn’t shareable, or even watchable outside of Universal Video Downloader. This will, hopefully, prevent people from downloading streaming content like Netflix for devious reasons.

Universal Video Downloader can be had for free on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

How To Use Your iPhone As a USB Drive

How To Use Your iPhone As a USB Drive

You know, iOS is a system that has a lot of advantages but the fact that it is a closed operating system blocks some interesting features. RoqyUSB7 is a new tweak available in Cydia that will allow you to use your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch as a USB drive so you can store all the files you want without having to go through iTunes.

Once the tweak installed on your device, go into the settings of your device then RoqyUSB7.  Enable USB Mass Storage, and then press No Disk and create disk space in which you drop your various documents.

The free version allows you to create a space of 128 MB of storage, and you have to pay $6,8 (once) if you want to remove this limit. Once the disk image is created, your iDevice turns into a real USB key!

RoqyUSB7 works fine with all OS, but on Windows you must follow these steps :

  1. Plug your iDevice with mass storage activated.
  2. On Windows, open Device Manager, go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, find Apple USB Mobile Device Driver.
  3. Right click on it and choose « update driver ». Choose « manually install driver », « select from list » and you’ll see 2 drivers, the Apple one and the USB Mass storage one.
  4. Choose the USB Mass storage one and continue.
  5. If the installation of the driver takes too long, disconnect your iDevice. The driver will be installed. Connect it again and you are done.

RoqyUSB7 is available on Cydia from the ModMyi repo. However, be sure to keep a few hundred MB free for new applications!

Battery Safe

BatterySafe

Battery life is something that all smartphone users worry about, but a new iOS 7 Cydia tweak helps to get as much out of your battery as possible by disabling battery-hungry features when your iPhone is almost out of juice.

With BatterySafe, users can customize how it works, by choosing which features get auto-switched to off when the battery runs low, like WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as having your iPhone automatically dim the display so that the battery will just a bit longer.

Of course, you can adjust these settings manually from the Control Center, and that in itself is pretty easy and quick to do, but if you’re all about the automation, BatterySafe is worth a look.

CCHide

CCHide

We discussed a new jailbreak tweak for the iOS 7 Control Center called FlipControlCenter, but a new tweak called CCHide, takes all the clutter out of the Control Center and gives you just the bare essentials that you need.

CCHide allows you to remove certain settings from the Control Center and shrink down that pop-up menu that appears when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen. There aren’t a lot of settings to choose from, so it’s rather simple and straightforward, but it does allow you to make the music section appearance conditional, meaning that the music controls only appear in the Control Center when music is playing.

Switch Spring

Switch Spring

iOS 7 comes with an all-new multitasking tray and app switcher, and while it’s much better than iOS 6′s app switcher, it still comes with its downsides, with the most-notable downside being the inability to kill all apps at once.

A jailbreak tweak called SwitchSpring allows you to quit all apps that are open, as well as the ability to restart your iOS device (as opposed to shutting it down and turning it back on).

To activate SwitchSpring, all you have to do is swipe up on your home screen while you’re in the app switcher and you’ll be able to quit all apps or restart your device. This is especially helpful when you have a lot of apps open and don’t want to bother with closing all of them out one at a time.

AdBlocker & AdBlockerNetwork Tweaks

Cydia Top Paid Tweaks for ios 7 Free!!!

AdBlocker & AdBlockerNetwork

Ad blockers aren’t a new jailbreak tweak by any means, but one of the more popular options, called AdBlocker, has been updated with iOS 7 support. The tweak blocks any and all adds in mobile web browsers like Safari and Chrome, as well as apps that have ads in them (such as the free version of paid apps, etc.)

AdBlocker by itself doesn’t block iAds or AdMob, unfortunately, so you’ll need an extension for the tweak that will block these. Luckily, AdBlockerNetwork is the one you’ll need and it’s free. You’ll have to add a new repo to Cydia in order to get the tweak (repo.yllier.net), so to do that, open up Cydia and tap on the Manage tab. Then navigate to Sources > Edit > Add and type in the repo web address.

Again the Repo address is
repo.yllier.net
