How to Install Jailbreak Tweaks on Your iPhone Without Cydia or iFile

     There are a ton of great mods and tweaks available in Cydia, but occasionally there will be one you want to install that hasn't quite made it into one of the main repositories yet. If you're not patient, it can be still be installed by manually placing the .deb file directly onto your device and installing it with iFile.

     I have iFile and it works very efficiently, but you might not want to fork over the five bucks for it like I did. Fortunately, there is a free alternative to iFile called iFunBox, although it requires the use of your computer to perform actions.

     With this app installed, you'd just plug your jailbroken iOS 7 device into your computer and begin navigating like any other file explorer. While it's a simple process, it does require a few more steps than using iFile would.

To see how it works, grab a .deb file and follow along with me.

Step 1: Install iFunBox

     The great thing about iFunBox, aside from being free, is that it's not exclusive to Mac or Windows users. You can find the download files for your OS using the links below.

Step 2: Install AFC2ADD

     If you plug your device and launch iFunBox now, you'll only have limited capability and no access to certain folders that are needed to manually install tweaks.

     To be able to view and access these folders, you'll need to install afc2add from the ModMyi repo in Cydia. It's free and does what we need, which is grant access to root system files and folders.

Step 3: Create an AutoInstall Folder

     After getting the necessary prerequisites, plug your iPad or iPhone into your computer and launch iFunBox. Navigate to Raw File System -> VAR -> Root and finally Media, which is probably empty.

     Create a new folder in Media by clicking on the New Folder icon and name it Cydia. Once in the Cydia folder, create another folder and name it AutoInstall.

Step 4: Copy Files to AutoInstall

     When you enter the new AutoInstall folder, select the Copy From Mac option and locate your .deb file. Place it in the folder, select Refresh to confirm it's there, then close iFunBox.

Step 5: Shut Down Your Device

     Back on your device, DO NOT respring—shut it down. I tried both methods and the tweak I copied, Cylinder, only appeared after shutting down then starting fresh.

     When your device starts up, the new tweak will be there and ready for use. It may take a few extra steps than iFile, but it will also save you a few dollars. And once you've done it a few times, it's quick and easy.

HOW TO: Download Paper Outside of the US

With Paper, Facebook just blew its own iPhone app out of the water

     Facebook released their new news creation and curation tool, Paper today. The problem is that it is only available in the US App Store. So, if you can’t wait for an international release, there a workaround for that.

     To download paper, basically you’ll need to reconfigure your iTunes account so Apple thinks you live in America. This is not hard at all, so let’s see how to do it:

1. Load App Store.app on your iOS device and tap on the ‘Featured’ button ( can find it in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen )

2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen where you should see your Apple ID and credit ( just above the Terms and Conditions )

3. Tap on your Apple ID. You will get a pop-up window where you need to tap on ‘View Apple ID’. You will be prompted to input your password.

4. On the next screen you’ll see a few options for your account, including the country and region where you currently reside ( obviously in this case it says US ).

5. Tap on Country/Region - here you can opt for the US version of the App Store. 

NOTE: if you have a store credit balance you will need to spend it before you can change stores.

6. Agree to the new Terms and Conditions, and then you’ll hit your only major roadblock – Apple requires a valid payment method if you want to buy anything in the App Store. Facebook Paper is free though, so just select ‘None’ from the payment options, followed by the Next button in the bottom right-hand corner.

     It's been a long time since I discussed about PC security last time. Because I've talked about MSE and Windows Defender. If you use any of the two in your PC, I believe you don't need any other security tools to protect your PC. But if you use any third party security tools or if you've any doubt about your current security software, you can check its performance by a sample virus! 

     Windows users often purchase security software ie. Norton, Kaspersky, Bit Defender, McAfee etc. Many of them use trial versions to protect the system. But how much safe you are? Are these tools really working for you? Can these tools detect viruses or worms? Let's check it with our fake virus! How effectively does it work for your security ?? 

To Test your Anti-Virus do the following :

1. Go to Run by Pressing Start + R
2. Type Notepad and hit Enter
3. Copy and Paste the following code on notepad
4. Now Save the file as Fakevirus.exe 
5. Scan the file with your antivirus

Copy thye following code in your Notepad:

     If your security tool is strong and if it has real time protection system, then you don't need to scan at all. It should be able to detect the file as virus automatically. If it doesn't detect the file immediately, then scan it. After scanning the file, if you see that your antivirus does nothing, remove the antivirus immediately. Because you're not safe with non performing security program. Rather it slows down your operating system. 

     I've also checked this code by Windows Defender. Defender is able to detect this file immediately. Even if you save the file with .txt extension, defender can detect it. The background scanning system of defender is so strong. 

     I believe Microsoft Security Essentials will do the same job as Defender. Both have tight security system. If your antivirus doesn't work well, you should use either MSE or Defender. Defender comes with Windows 8 by default. But if you're using previous versions of Windows, you can use MSE at free of cost.

     It took Apple until iOS 4 to finally come through with the basic commodity of folders, and a further three revisions – right up to iOS 7 – before these folders could finally be deemed substantial. But while it’s nice to be able to put an unlimited amount of app icons in one spot in iOS 7, there’s still room for improvement, and a new tweak called FolderBoard offers a little something extra by allowing you to open folders in full screen mode.

     Even though Apple has brought forth many great features with iOS 7, it’s still mystifying that almost every facet of the firmware still seems arbitrarily limited in one way or another. Being able to dive right into the full-screen folders is a breeze too, with absolutely no settings to configure from the get go.

     Once installed, FolderBoard will open up folders in full-screen mode, and as a bonus, also bring pinch-to-close for added finesse. There are no options to configure like we said before, but it does work well as advertised, and although it will still only show nine icons per page, it does make everything appear nicely spaced out.

     FolderBoard is absolutely free of charge, and can be picked up from the ModMyi repository right now. Sure, it’s not as feature rich as some of the other tweaks we’ve featured here at Redmond Pie, but it does the job it sets out to do, and does so well.

     Personally speaking, I think the full-screen look is superior, and having downloaded this tweak purely for the purpose of testing it out, I will certainly be keeping it installed on my device for the time being.

     As a side note, you can also get full-screen folders by purchasing FolderEnhancer for 

iOS 7, an incredibly useful, long-standing tweak that lets you modify the way your folders behave to the nth degree, and as well as providing seemingly endless functionality, it lets you customize the appearance of text, implement custom backgrounds, and other such niceties.
